Self Confidence...

There are times in life when your self-confidence will take a hard hit. Sometimes you are able to conquer life's challenges, while other times you simply feel overwhelmed. Sometimes, your confidence and courage will see you through. However, there are times when your self confidence will take a thumping. Therefore, it is very eminent that you remember "Nobody can hurt you without your consent." The impact the problem has on you, is not nearly as important as the impact you allow the problem to create on you. In your life, it is inevitable you will feel pain, but suffering is definitely optional. Whether you choose to bounce back or endure the pain is purely a choice.
There can be a variety of different reasons why your self confidence may be hurt. Your circumstance may be that you have had a hard marriage and are now headed for divorce court. Or perhaps you did not make the college football team or may have even been laid off work. Undoubtedly, there is a lot of pain associated with any of these situations. However, you don't have to suffer. You can simply choose to resolve or rise above the problem and get back your confidence.
The following are some ways that can help rebuild your self confidence.

Look at the bright side of things.

If you have lost your job, give yourself permission to feel bad for a day or two. However, longer than that is not acceptable. Yes, losing a job is a horrible thing, but it is not the end of the world. In reality, losing your job may be a blessing in disguise. Time away from work may allow you to take a closer look at your life. You can take the time to review your likes and dislikes, as well as your hobbies. This may give you the opportunity to choose a new path in life, one that is more in sync with your aptitude and abilities. Similarly, a divorce may cause you a great deal of pain upfront. However, chances are you were not happy in your marriage. Now, you can begin to rebuild your life and live it the way you want to.

Don't compare yourself to others

Whenever a problem arises, we often ask God "Why me?" Chances are, God has given you quite a few rewards in your life. When you received the rewards did you ask God "Why me?" This is simply what human nature is all about. We often complain and only seek God when we are in trouble. It is important that you do not look at other people who may appear comfortable and happy from a distance. Stop comparing your suffering with their comfort. This will only make matters worse. Instead, try focusing the attention on yourself. Make a genuine effort to get out whenever you are feeling down.
Self pity can be very addicting and in turn, destroy lives. Instead of giving into self pity (although we all do this from time to time), take back control of your life. Own up to your actions and learn from any mistakes you have made. This will help you to obtain a fresh start. Don't let a "NO" get you down. A "NO" is something that everyone, including people like Thomas Edison and Henry Ford has had to face. If you look at it in the right light, you can see that a "NO" is actually just a step closer to a "YES". Reports show that before Edison was successful in producing an electric bulb, he conducted more than a thousand experiments that all failed. Therefore, take the "NO" in stride and keep going.

Are you keeping yourself from moving on?

Shadows form when we stand directly in the path of sunshine. In our lives, we too can cause shadows by standing directly in the way of our own happiness. In today's society, it is extremely important that we remain flexible. People will often search for months for the perfect job, while allowing others to slip away, simply because they are not willing to adapt to some new job skills. Jane, who was laid off from her job as a teacher, tried for several months to obtain another teaching job.
All the while, she was turning down jobs to work as a freelance copy-editor, a nanny position and even private tutoring positions. The extremely long wait took a further toll on her self confidence. Sometimes it is wise to be flexible and try to adapt to another job, rather than trying to find the perfect replacement. This will help to rebuild confidence, which can eventually lead to a better job, in the field of your choice.

Trip to Shivana Samudra on 8th June 2008

It was after a elongated gap...WE, the so called EX-COLLEAGUES of Jetking- Rajajinagar joined together for a trip to Shivana Samudra... It was a difficult struggle for the organizer to bring the people together, who are scattered all around the IT companies of the great city…Bangalore…!!! Finally, he was successful to bring 10 of them together; that itself was a skillful attainment …!!!

The pickup started from HAL (Laticiya & Savio) -->Ulsoor (Bharathi) --> ISKON (Atanu) --> Vijayanagar (Saritha, Ram, Kiran & Jagadeesh) --> Maruthi Mandir (Vimal) --> Deepanjalinagar (Shankar).

We started from Deepanjalinagar at around 7.30 AM. The breakfast was ready with us which we bought from Mallige Idli Factory. We stopped near a very small water stream for breakfast. I found 2 big rock-like stones, which was selected as the breakfast table. We had stomach-full of breakfast and started from there.

The journey was full of colors since Vimal, Savio were with us & Ram of course who is the born-imitator… and most surprisingly, the timely, funny comments from Shankar – very fast now, compared to his earlier appearance in Jetking which we all knew very well. Some hilarious conversations between Ram – Bharathi and Vimal – Savio, added joy to the continuation of the trip.

We reached Gagana-chukki at around 10.50 AM as planned. After a small photo-session we were attracted by the stunning beauty of the water falls in the center of super-cool nature. We had chance to glance at the SHIMSHA Power Project. While returning to the TT, someone bought the yummy yummy mango-pieces with salt & mixed chilly powder. It simply reminded us our childhood passions…
After this, we headed towards Bhara-chukki. On the way, we stopped at the Durgah and had a clear view of the deep valley. It was just for 15 minutes. Reaching Bhara-chukki was like dream-come-true. We carried all the luggage including the food containers & our spare dresses. Now, the distance was just 300+ steps….!!! We felt, Bhara-chukki is spread over a large space than Gagana-chukki.

We got down through the steps very carefully because missing a single step could take us directly to the end (in fact, Bharathi & Saritha were very careful). We found decent number of people there and monkeys as well.

It was lunch-time for us at 12.55 PM. Monkeys were threatening some of us for food. Since Shankar & Vimal were with us, we did not have any fear…!!! After finishing lunch, we headed towards one of the water streams. Savio lead us who carried my camera in his bag. I was wondering, seeing Savio moving front without even changing his dress.

Myself, Jagadeesh and Atanu got into the water stream first; others followed us. There was a pair who were already enjoying in that stream. We did not disturb the
m; silently captured 2-3 snaps & started playing in the water. The force was less in the beginning & the rocks were slippery. Standing & walking on those rocks was really tough. It was a nice package of full fun. Some people enjoyed the water, some people enjoyed seeing the slipping legs, some others with good eyes and few of them enjoyed holding hands of people who were about to slip down by loosing the grip… ( everyone recollects Ram’s face here..humanity… hahaha…!!!).

This enjoyment lasted when lot of people started flowing in towards that stream… we came out from there; Savio was fully shivering (even his little LANGOTI…hehe). Saritha was afraid to take help from him to get down from the slippery rock, as he was totally shivering…like the Goods-Auto engine…!!!

Now, we (Myself, Jagadeesh & the shivering Savio) started climbing up the rocks, to reach the upper stream of Bhara-chukki. The height of Bhara-chukki is just 60m. We could reach almost 30m. and were searching for our friends so that they can click our snaps at that height; but, the camera was nicely sleeping in a bag & our friends were sitting on some small rocks & were playing in the water. We found a guy with camera there & asked him to capture our snap. We gave him our Mail ID & asked to forward that snap (did not recieve that snap yet...).

We got down & started playing in
the water again; this time, it was the time to throw water to each other’s face. Bharathi got a stone for preparing the special “Chandanam”-thick fluid of Sandalwood, which is used as the natural facial cream. But Shankar was in search of big stones. He was lifting stones of unusual sizes (better to say – stones of his size…). He fell 6 times in total; many of us defined various reasons for his down-fall. But, he knows the actual strategy…!!!

We were out of the water by 3.50 PM and started to climb up the steps. A light drizzle amused us with its tender drops. Leaving the site was a kind of slight pain deep in the heart. The beauty of nature, the softness of the weather and the comfort of greenery were driving us back to the memory lane which we passed from the morning…

The eminent element of our trip was the yummy & hot fish-fry which we ate with Pulav, near the Durgah. The rain was strong by now; it did not harm us as we were already in the TT. Travelling back to Bangalore with loads of memories was an unforgettable, evergreen moment. Many of us kept discussing about the olden days, the earlier trips and some personal matters as well. Some of us were sleeping. First drop of the evening was Shankar at 7.40 PM. Everyone reached home safely within 9 PM (decent time, isn’t it??). I had my dinner within 9 PM & called everyone to check whether they reached home safely. The result was positive.

“At the end of the day,
we all felt pretty much comfortable and relaxed. Our motto was - going out and just enjoy the day, enjoy the company of old buddies and try to throw away all the depression of busy life in Bangalore. Our expectations weren't very high, and they shouldn't be; We were fully satisfied with the travel, food, enjoyment, company, timings and so on…” The guys who missed this trip, really missed a enormous amount of memories, which they never can fill in with any other precious data…in so called hard disk of their hearts…!!! You really missed it guys…

with Lotz of LuV, Kiran...
